Rich is known for creating chalk ware holiday collectibles using antique German chocolate moulds. Each piece is signed, dated, includes mould date and numbered. Rich retired each mould yearly making his artwork truly collectible. This mould is dated 1890. His work has been part of the White House Christmas displays and was collected by Jackie Onassis and John F. Kennedy, Jr. Rich’s folk art chalkware have been featured on The Martha Stewart Show and in Country Living Magazine.
On a personal note I had the pleasure of meeting and buying Rich’s holiday line for my shop in Morris County NJ in the late 1990’s. He was a very talented artist that I will always admire and remember. Unfortunately, Rich passed away in 2020, leaving behind his creative folk art legacy for all to enjoy.
Santa Gnome is in great vintage condition, with no chips or cracks measuring 8”. Beautifully painted with much detail. One small spec on back base has paint loss. See photos. #99 1998 Truly a great piece!!
